From October 16 to 20, 2024, a group of 24 cyclists from Slovenia, specifically from Maribor and Celje, stayed at Hotel Bigeste in Ljubuški.
Their visit followed a search for a suitable hotel in Herzegovina, and the initial contact was made at the beginning of this year.
The hotel learned from this contact that it was recommended as a Bike Friendly hotel, which was the decisive comparative advantage for their arrival in Ljubuški. During their four-day stay at Hotel Bigeste, they were cycling every day and visited the tourist attractions of Mostar, Čitluk, and Ljubuški, and one day they had a ride to Ploče in neighboring Croatia.
They stated that they were impressed by everything they saw, especially the natural beauties of Herzegovina, and promised to return.
Mr. Stjepan Primorac, the hotel manager, stated: “In conclusion, I would say that these are commercially positive consequences of the Bike Friendly project, which REDAH successfully implemented, and of which we were participants. I note that we have had smaller groups of cyclists from our country, and this is the first larger group from abroad. I am confident that we will only have positive effects from implementing the Bike Friendly Standard in the future“.
Hotel Bigeste was one of the pioneers in the process, first successfully certified according to the requirements of the Bike Friendly Standard in 2019, and after successful recertification, extended the validity of the certificate until the end of 2025.
