From April 21 to 24, 2024, REDAH held a training session in Nikšić for BFS national technical secretariats and evaluators from Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo.
As the owner of the standard, REDAH is also the regional technical secretariat, and the national technical secretariats are responsible for the implementation of the certification process in their countries. The national technical secretariats are: Serbia-Regional development agency Zlatibor, Užice, Albania-Ther Door, Shkodër, Montenegro-NVU Tourist cluster Montenegro, Nikšić, Kosovo-LAG GLV Agroturizmi, Peja, North Macedonia-Network for rural development of North Macedonia.
Each national technical secretariat has appointed independent evaluators whose role is to carry out a field assessment of the fulfillment of the facility standard criteria, and during the training, the evaluators are introduced with the certification process, their role and the evaluation methodology.
The training included the presentation of the certification process and criteria of the Bike Friendly Standard for different categories of facilities.
In addition to the theoretical part of the training, a practical demonstration of the certification process was carried out using examples of accommodation and catering facilities.
The training is part of the project Bike Friendly Standard for Greener Western Balkans, which is implemented by the Association for Economic Development REDAH Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and financed by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. It is carried out in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia.
The project has a general goal: Expanding and strengthening regional connectivity, cooperation and networking through the Bike Friendly Standard with the aim of developing additional value in the regional tourist offer.
